Ebay (& elsewhere) Pricewatch
Copies of MSSM appear for sale on Ebay and other sites pretty regularly. Prices vary and fluctuate dramatically for no obvious reason. High numbered late issues fetch prices comparable with very early editions and some editions seem to be much more common than others. For the next few months (make that years) I am going to track which editions appear for sale and what price they attract to see if there is a pattern or if it is entirely random.

May 2012 It's been a busy year so far on Ebay for copies of MSSM. There seems to be an overall downward trend in prices achieved. One or two copies have defied the odds and made over £30 but only one in ten has fetched over £20 and a good few have made less than £10 and one copy only made £3.40. Who knows whether this is due to the recession or a small number of serious collectors being close to completing their collections thereby meaning less competition?
This list is not exhaustive, I keep an eye on Ebay regularly but there are, no doubt, plenty of items that I have missed.

March 2013 I've been busy with other stuff these last few months and not kept this page up to date. After a quiet spell towards the end of last year there was a flurry of activity during February that saw some issues of MSSM reach all time high prices on Ebay. As is always the case with Ebay there was no rhyme or reason for this, some issues sold for a couple of ££'s one week and £30-£50 the next. I must say there were some very odd bidding patterns going on and there was a hint of 'shill bidding' on some items.
The latest development is really silly start prices, £75 for N156 yesterday. I'm not going to publish this until the item closes, the seller is entitled to name his price and potential buyers have to decide just how deep their pockets are. If It makes £75 I'll be astonished but you never know. The same issue sold for £18 a couple of weeks ago. The real irony here is that issues 148-156 do not contain one page of original content, they are just old issues wrapped in new covers, or in a couple of cases compilations from earlier issues, basically David Sullivan at his worst, ripping off punters.
Hopefully nobody has got their fingers burned. (I just checked, they didn't). And now N156 has been relisted at a much more 'affordable' £45, £4.50 would just about represent value if you happen to be a completist. Oh dear, no takers at £45, I wonder what starting price it will be relisted with next time around?
